Lawn Goose

My owner said she was going to buy a lawn goose,
And dress it up in clothes.
I wondered why she would do such a thing,
But decided only heaven knows.



In just a few days,
The lawn goose was here.
She dressed it all up,
And seemed to be of better cheer.

The lawn goose's wardrobe,
Soon began to multiply.
It had clothes for every holiday,
And I really wondered why.

It wasn’t long before dressed up geese,
Appeared up and down the street.
The thing seemed to be infectious,
I guess people think they’re neat.

One had on a big red hat
With a boa and purple dress
Why that color combo,
Is anybody’s guess.

I found it all quite silly,
And wondered where it would end.
Then slowly I began to realize,
It was more than just a trend.

Society has become so different,
That my owner was feeling out of place.
But playing with her silly lawn goose,
Has put a smile back on her face.

She doesn’t seem to fret as much,
Over things she can’t control.
She’s as carefree as a little child,
And I think that was her goal.

I am grateful to that lawn goose,
Even though it’s as embarrassing, as it can be.
But I figure if she didn’t have that goose to dress,
Those clothes just might end up on me!!!!
